Minnies Not Small On Selection

Taste's 'Hot Spot' This Week A Family Favorite

Taste's "Hot Spot" this week introduced viewers to Jonathan Segal, the owner of Minnies Restaurant.

When Segal was a boy, his mother realized that he hated sharing his food. So for his fourth birthday party, his mother served mini-hamburgers. This is where the concept for his restaurant originated.

Minnies has become a hit with customers of all ages, but Segal said his biggest surprise is his tiny, stroller-bound clientele. Segal said toddlers love Minnies so much that at certain times during the day, when the little ones are his main customers, the restaurant turns into "Disneyland."

Parents have the best of both worlds, too. They get to have their wine or cocktails while their toddlers chow down a few Minnies.

The menu carries 19 different mini-sandwiches, as well as five different salads, which are available in full or mini-portions.

All of Minnies’ sandwiches are three for $7, six for $13 or 12 for $24.

Some of Segal’s favorite Minnies are:

  • The Cuban: pork, ham and swiss cheese pressed with mustard
  • Minnie Grill Cheese: a fun alternative to traditional grilled cheese
  • Thanksgiving Delight: think the second day after Thanksgiving
  • Snack Shop Salad: a scoop each of tuna, chicken and egg salad, available in Minnie size for $5 and full size for $9.

Even the drinks served at this spot are tiny, from mini-beers to miniature airline-sized mixed drinks.

Their signature drink is the Minnie Fizz, which contains Stoli vodka and original-flavored Fresca.

For the kids, Minnies offers a special drink called the Minnie Freeze, which is a butterscotch milkshake.

    Business hours are from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. for breakfast, and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for dinner.

In addition to their regular business hours, Minnies has a 24-hour take-out window, offering the full menu. You can have any of these bite-sized treats whenever you get a craving. If you are looking for someplace that everybody in the family can enjoy, put Minnies on your list.
