Jeff Muldrow, the owner and former chef of Va Pensiero in Evanston's Margarita European Inn, welcomed Taste viewers to his "hidden treasure."The cuisine at Va Pensiero is regional authentic Italian with a leaning toward fine dining. The restaurant has an in-house sommelier (wine connoisseur) who is more than happy to help guests determine what wine to order with their food.
Muldrow's aim with the restaurant was for a more casual atmosphere along with great service and food, and excellent wine."We take our food very seriously, but we don't take ourselves that seriously," Muldrow said. When guests leave Va Pensiero, Muldrow wants them to feel like they were just in someone's home kitchen in Italy.Among the dishes on the menu are:
Rack of Lamb -- The chef’s favorite, guaranteed to be on the menu. Grilled Octopus with calamari Trio of desserts; combines tiramisu, creme brulee and panocotta.
