Sosa's Sneeze Causes Him To Miss Win Over Padres

POSTED: 8:35 pm EDT May 16, 2004

Chicago Cubs outfielder Sammy Sosa missed Sunday's 4-2 win over San Diego with back spasms caused by two sneezes.

Sosa suffered the injury shortly after entering the Cubs' clubhouse at Petco Park. After sneezing, he grabbed a chair for support. During the game, he received treatment in the training room.

Sosa homered in the initial two games against the Padres. He smacked his 549th career homer Saturday to move past Mike Schmidt into ninth place on the all- time list.

In 35 games this season, Sosa is batting .291 with 10 homers and 24 RBI.
