Boxing Event Could Up City's Olympic Chances

CHICAGO -- If you were near the Chicago River on Monday, you might have seen an unusual event.The Exhibition Boxing Match took place on a barge floating up the river to promote the 2007 World Boxing Championships being held next month at the UIC Pavillion.The city has its eyes on the 2016 Olympics, and leaders said this will be the largest international sporting event Chicago has hosted since the World Cup in 1994.
More than 700 boxers will be competing for world titles and the chance to box at the 2008 Olympics in Bejing.
