June Fowler has been making money while she shops online.
"I have earned $91.53," she said.
That's just over the past few days. She's getting up to 30 cents on every dollar she spends on MrRebates.com.
"(You can) register for a free account and shop at hundreds of different stores and get cash back on every purchase," said Craig Cassata, MrRebates.com founder.
Cassata said customers can shop at Dell, Gap, Macy's, Target, Best Buy, Office Depot -- in all, more than 1,000 name-brand stores. The site offers rebates on many different kinds of merchandise, and Cassata said the only way to get the rebates is to go through his Web site.
"You see 23 cents, 28 cents and you think that's nothing, but look how it builds," Fowler said.
When it comes to shopping on Mr. Rebates, Fowler is Mrs. Rebates.
"You log onto their main site then you go to the stores that are listed and once you're there, you're already logged on the Mr. Rebates, and it automatically goes into your account," she said.
The average rebate is between 5 and 7 percent of the purchase price.
"Mail-in rebates are often a lot of hassle," Cassata said. "You have to mail them in, cut off the UPC off the box. Mr. Rebates is totally automatic."
There's nothing to fill out or send in. The more you buy, the more you earn.
"It's a way to get that free money," Fowler said. When you refer a friend to MrRebates.com, you get a 20 percent rebate on every purchase that person makes, as well. That's making Fowler even more money.
"I have earned $260 for doing nothing -- not buying; doing absolutely nothing," she said.
Fowler and her daughter have a little rebate competition going on.
"She's done fantastic. She's earned over $700 in about two years," Fowler said of her daughter.
That's nothing compared to the Mr. Rebates record holder.
"Over a couple of years, I believe we had one member who received rebates of $50,000," Cassata said.
As you earn more rebates on Mr. Rebates, the money goes into an online account so you can do more online shopping. If you want the money in your pocket, Mr. Rebates will also send you a check or make a Paypal deposit.
