CHICAGO -- Some say it's a law that makes Chicago City Council seem silly, but now there is a renewed push to keep the foie gras ban in effect.Opponents said foie gras production is cruel because grain is force-fed down restrained birds' throats, until their livers swell to 10 times the normal size.Alderman Joe Moore and Leaders of Farm Sanctuary and the Humane Society Of America are against the move to repeal the ban.
They spoke at the city hall a short while ago, when Moore said we should be more caring "towards god's creatures."Recently, some Chicago restaurants have been serving foie gras as a free garnish.
