ALOHA, Ore. -- An Oregon woman is facing charges after allegedly using 911 as a dating service, and the whole exchange was caught on tape.
Authorities said it started when some neighbors called the sheriff with a noise complaint about Lorna Jeanne Dudash. A deputy came to her door. After he left, Dudash allegedly dialed the emergency number, asking dispatchers to send back the "cutie pie," as she put it."I don't have an emergency. Two police officers just left my house. Can I get their names please?" Dudash asks on the 911 tape. The apparently stunned operator asked again why she needed help, and Dudash answered that she wanted to meet the handsome deputy."Honey, I'm going to be honest. I just thought he was cute," Dudash says on the tape. "I'm 45 years old, and I'd like to meet him again, but I don't know how to go about doing that without calling 911. I know this is in no way, shape or form an emergency."The deputy returned to her home. After confirming there was no emergency, he gave Dudash a date -- but not the kind she appeared to be hoping for.She got a court date on July 24 on charges of 911 misuse. Conviction could carry a year in jail plus $4,000 in fines.
