Indiana Mom Pleads Guilty To Killing 2 Sons

CHICAGO -- A Northwest Indiana woman pleaded guilty but mentally ill in the slayings of her two young sons.Magdelena Lopez, of Dyer, Ind., agreed to plead guilty in return for the state agreeing not to seek the death penalty.Lopez beat her 9-year-old and 2-year-old sons to death with an exercise weight last July.
Her lawyers say she was suffering from bi-polar disorder at the time.She faces 45 to 65 years behind bars when she is sentenced in May.
