A police report said that as officers approached the house in the suburban town about 10 miles southwest of Gary, Magdalena Lopez walked out with blood stains on her clothes and bare feet.Handcuffed, Magdalena Lopez stood quietly before a judge Friday in her first court appearance. She gently rocked back and forth occasionally as she answered the judge's questions with a soft voice. The accused woman appeared to listen and watch the judge, but she also stole a few glances at family members who were in the courtroom. She seemed to fight back tears as the charges were read against her.The judge denied Lopez bond. She was remanded to custody in the Lake County Jail.
