CHICAGO -- A rainy weekend could not slow the pace of violence in the city as nine people were killed in acts of violence from late Friday through early Monday. Shootings throughout the city wounded several others.
Police said they found the body of a man lying outside a house on South Michigan Avenue about 2:38 a.m. The unidentified man, believed to be in his 20s, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead on the scene.Witnesses said they heard several gunshots, looked out the window and saw the victim lying in the street, police said. The bullet-riddled body was found by a resident who lives nearby. Four shell casings from a 9 mm weapon were recovered from the scene.It is unclear whether the shooting was a drive-by, but several vehicles were reportedly seen leaving the area, according to a Grand Central District police captain. In other violence this weekend, a man was critically wounded in a shooting Saturday afternoon on the Southwest Side.The shooting happened about 12:49 p.m. in the 4900 block of West 44th Place, according to Ursitti, who said a man was shot in the leg.He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in serious to critical condition, according to Fire Media Affairs spokesman Richard Rosado. A man was shot Saturday afternoon at a gas station in the West Side's Lawndale neighborhood.Police responded to the 4900 block of West Harrison Street about 1:23 p.m., Ursitti said, where a man was shot and taken to Loretto Hospital in an unknown condition.The shooting happened on the property of the Harrison Marathon station, at 4751 W. Harrison St., according to an employee. A man angry about being denied entry to a South Side club late Friday night opened fire on bouncers, striking a bystander in the arm and injuring a woman with bullet fragments.One of the three shots struck a 26-year-old man in the right arm. That man ran to the porch of his nearby home and was later transported to Jackson Park Hospital in stable condition. He was expected to be transferred to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, police said.A 33-year-old woman was hit by bullet fragments but was said to be in good condition, police said.No one is in custody, but police say they know who they are looking for. The alleged shooter, whose name is not being released, is a 27-year-old man and was seen fleeing the scene driving a 2000 or 2002 gold Lincoln Town Car. One person is in custody after shots were fired at a police patrol car near the Northwest Side's Kosciuszko Park on Sunday night."A police unit was on patrol when an offender fired shots at officers and was subsequently taken into custody," about 10:49 p.m. in the 3900 block of West Diversey Avenue, Officer Henry said.No officers were struck and they did not return fire, Henry said.One person is in custody early Monday, but charges were pending, according to Henry. No one was injured in the incident. Not all the weekend's violence was confined to the city limits.In south suburban Chicago Heights, a 19-year-old man was found shot to death on a sidewalk Saturday night.About 10 p.m., Martez Lockett was found on a sidewalk in front of 484 W. Hickory St., according to Chicago Heights police. Lockett had been shot once in the back of the head.Lockett, of East Lawrence St reet , in the south suburb, was taken to Saint James Hospital and Health Centers in Chicago Heights, where he was pronounced dead at 10:34 p.m., according to the medical examiner's office.While police have talked to several witnesses, a sergeant said, they had no suspects in custody as of Sunday morning. Chicago Heights police are being assisted by the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force.

One man was killed and another hospitalized early Monday after being shot in a possibly gang-related incident in the Southwest Side Little Village neighborhood.Emilio Tamayo, 26, of South Harding Avenue, was fatally shot near his home and was pronounced dead on the scene.A second 20-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to his chest and was in stable condition at Mount Sinai Hospital Monday afternoon.Fatal Domestic Disturbance
A south suburban woman was killed when she was apparently beaten and strangled in a domestic-related incident in a Back-of-the-Yards neighborhood home Sunday evening.Police were notified of a domestic-related homicide on South Damen Avenue about 6 p.m. Sunday.Kimberly Foucher, 40, of South Wentworth Avenue, in Riverdale, was apparently beaten and strangled at the Damen Avenue address, a spokesman for the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office said.Steven Cullars, 45, was charged Monday afternoon with first-degree murder in Foucher's death, police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said.Mirabelli described Cullars as "an acquaintance" of Foucher's.Fatal Drive-By
A man was fatally shot by someone inside another car in the West Side's Garfield Park neighborhood late Sunday.About 10:30 p.m., a man in his 30s was shot multiple times on South Hamlin Avenue, police said.Dalon Russell, 32, was shot and pronounced dead at 10:50 p.m. Sunday at Mount Sinai Hospital, according to the medical examiner’s office.Russell was inside a car when someone inside another car shot him, according to a Harrison District police lieutenant.Fatal Drive-By
Two men were shot, one fatally, in a drive-by early Sunday in the South Side West Englewood neighborhood. The shooting happened about 12:30 a.m. in the 5600 block of South Winchester Avenue.The men were outside when someone inside a vehicle shot them, according to Wentworth Area detectives.One victim received a gunshot wound to the arm and was taken to Holy Cross Hospital in "stable" condition and the other was unresponsive on the scene, according to Henry.The dead man was identified as Bennie Ross, 18, of South Honore St reet , according to the medical examiner's office. A young woman who was shot Saturday died from her injuries Sunday, though police and the medical examiner's office are still trying to determine just where she was shot.Nicole Medina, 20, of West 44th Place, was shot on Saturday and died Sunday evening, a medical examiner's office spokesman said. Three men were shot, one fatally, in the Northwest Side's Hermosa neighborhood early Saturday.The shooting happened about 2:15 a.m. in the 4600 block of West Shakespeare Avenue, according to police. The three victims, all 20, each were shot in the abdomen, police said.One of the men was dead at the scene, according to police News Affairs Sgt. Antoinette Ursitti. Brandon Snype, 26, of West 105th Street, was shot at 10510 S. Wentworth Ave., a medical examiner's office spokesman said.
