Not A 'Gouda' Idea: Man Uses Cheese Grater In Robbery, Police Say

POSTED: 3:31 pm CDT July 8, 2008

An armed robber held up a Hammond, Ind., gas station and tried holding up a bar on Sunday with a unique tool.

Court records allege James Plante, 39, used a cheese grater during his crimes.

Police said one of James Plante's would-be victims realized it wasn't a gun and threw him out of the bar.

Plante ran away and dropped the cheese grater on the ground, but police later caught up with him, court records show.

He reportedly confessed and is now charged with robbery and attempted robbery.
