CHICAGO -- A man suspected in a Saturday morning Wicker Park bank robbery slit his throat with a box cutter as police were moving in to arrest him, sources said.Police from the Wood and Shakespeare districts responded to the robbery at the bank around 9:20 a.m., a Wood District sergeant said.A man was transported in critical condition from the TCF bank inside the Jewel grocery story on North Paulina Street to Northwestern Memorial Hospital with a self-inflicted wound, said Larry Langford, spokesman for Chicago fire.
According to a source, the suspected robber slit his throat with a box cutter before police could arrest him, creating a gruesome scene.The Chicago FBI field office said they had no information to share on the incident.
