CHICAGO -- A forensic expert said she's sure a girl who's been missing for almost seven years is pictured in a photo that was recently sent to the family. Now, the missing girl's family is asking for the public's help to find the girl in the photo.
Two girls, Tionda and Diamond Bradley, went missing from the South Side of Chicago on July 6, 2001. They were 10 and 3, respectively, when they disappeared. The family and a forensic expert say the recent photo is of Tionda. The girls' great aunt, Shelia Bradley-Smith, said that last year, another family member received a photo of a girl with a note saying, "This is your sister Tionda." However, they have not been able to find out where the photo came from.Bradley-Smith first sent the photo to the National Center for Missing and Exploited children, which told them they could not rule out that the image was Tionda.
The family then consulted Lois Gibson, a nationally recognized forensic sketch artist who works for the Houston Police Department. Gibson said she also believes the new photo is Tionda."The mandibles are the same, the eyes are the same. I could tell she tweezed her eyebrows and where she tweezed them," Gibson said. "It's her, I'm sure. Not kinda sorta; it is her."Gibson made a name for herself with a sketch of "Baby Grace," a child whose body was found off Galveston Island in 2007. Gibson's sketchs of what the child looked like when she was alive led to the discovery of the girl's identity.Gibson said she challenged anyone who believes the photo isn't Tionda to contact her."We should find the girl who's in the three pictures," Gibson said.Anyone with information about the girl in the photo is urged to call the Chicago Cold Case Division at 312-746-9690 or NCME at 800-843-5678. You can view the photos on the family's Web site, http://www.findtiondanddiamond.com/about_us.html.
