CHICAGO -- Three mini vans heading for the showroom will end up in a scrap heap after flying off of a tractor-trailer overnight.
The truck, which was transporting cars and vans, hit an overpass on the Bishop Ford Freeway near south suburban Glenwood at about 1:30 a.m.
The truck was in the northbound lanes of the freeway when it struck the underside of the overpass at Glenwood Dyer Road. Three of the vehicles fell onto the road, according to an Illinois State Police District Chicago sergeant.
Nobody was injured, but all northbound lanes were temporarily closed while the vans were removed from the road, the sergeant said.
Images of the scene indicate that vehicles were totaled in the incident.
No citations had been issued as of 3:30 a.m.
