IÂ’ve always enjoyed cooking with my family. ItÂ’s a wonderful time to just visit with the people whoÂ’ve been such an important part of your life.Recently, I was treated to three generations of one family working together to create a wonderful business. Sarah Levy, of Chicago-based Levy Pastries and Candies, was not only kind enough to bring her mom, Terry, and grandmother, Eadie, but also gracious enough to share her momÂ’s f udge b rownie recipe with us. It only requires a few ingredients, but the taste is incredible.I made my own batch last night and it was great. I hope you try it and enjoy it, too!
Ingredients
8 oz. butter 4 oz. unsweetened chocolate 2 c. sugar ¼ tsp. salt 1½ c. flour 4 large eggs 2 tsp. vanilla 1 c. walnut pieces, toasted
Method
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Place butter and chocolate in a double boiler and melt ingredients, stirring to combine. Transfer hot ingredients to a large mixing bowl. Add sugar and salt and mix well. Add flour and eggs alternatively and stir until combined. Add vanilla and walnuts and continuing stirring until everything is fully incorporated.Pour mixture into a greased baking pan and place into the oven for 45 minutes or until brownies are done.
