It was a seedy birthday bash for the Brookfield Zoo's oldest resident -- literally.

Cookie Cockatoo turned 74 on Saturday and zoo officials celebrated with a bird seed spread and muffin-sized cake for the popular winged resident.

Cookie, a Major Mitchell's cockatoo, is the only remaining member of the zoo's original animal collection. He was born in Australia and moved to the Brookfield Zoo in 1934, when it opened.

Over the years, more than 120 million visitors have passed through Brookfield Zoo, many of them loyal fans of the proud pink cockatoo.
