CHICAGO -- Wildlife officials in Illinois are slated to begin tests this week to determine whether the invasive Asian carp is headed north.Officials fear that if the Asian carp gets into Lake Michigan, it will cut into the food supply for other fish that are native to Illinois. In an effort to determine where the species is living, officials will fish waterways from Havana, Ill., to Blue Island
Electric barriers have been placed in the sanitary and ship canal near Romeoville to try to stop the progress of the Asian carp and the round goby, another invasive fish species that's been found farther downstate.
