PLAINFIELD, Ill. -- NBC5 has learned that friends of missing Plainfield mother Lisa Stebic have hired a psychic in their search to find her.

That development comes as police confirm that cadaver dogs trained to identify dead bodies made a positive hit during a search of Stebic's home, police sources said.

Plainfield Police Chief Donald Bennett confirmed that cadaver dogs were used during the search for Stebic, who was reported missing May 1 by a neighbor. He refused to reveal more details, but did say the search for the missing mother of two is expanding.

Police on Sunday searched ditches along a construction site in Montgomery and around Silver Spring State Park. They said they were looking for Stebic's older-model cell phone and her small black purse decorated with rhinestones.

Nothing turned up.

Stebic, 38, has been missing since April 30. She was reportedly last seen the evening before by her husband, Craig, with whom she was in the middle of a divorce.

"It's been very hard. Everyday you wake up and wonder "Is she going to be found today?' " her friend, Kimberly Young, told NBC5's Amy Jacobson. "You just can't sit back and do nothing. We will not give up."

Stebic's family is offering a $50,000 reward for information in the case.
