CHICAGO -- The International Home and Housewares Show opened at McCormick Place on Monday and, as NBC5 reported, this is not your mother's annual housewares exhibit.

This year brings a lot more than just pots and pans to Chicago, as the $301 billion world of home goods is spotlighted.Twenty-one hundred exhibitors from over 30 countries are showcasing products designed to make domestic life a whole lot easier."In a nutshell, it's all about convenience products that make it easier for us to cook, clean, store and organize," Lifestyle Consultant Lisa Casey Weiss said of the show.
The future, industry insiders say, is all about smart products -- technology that will keep your toast from burning when you don't.
